Being Healthy=Feeling Great

Running: I've been trying to run a lot lately! I ran 4 times this week and three of them were at least 3 miles. That doesn't really sound like a lot but it takes a lot of dedication to get back into running shape after being in 60m hurdle shape... I've been logging what I eat on myfitnesspal.com and logging my runs on mapmyrun.com. I have been feeling great lately for the most part. My knees, ankles, and heels have been achy from going on runs but as long as I ice at heat and then rest after runs, the pain is pretty manageable. In one week I can already feel a difference in my body even though people around me can't. The hardest part is literally getting out of the house and getting outside! Even if you try running and stop you are at least away from your house so you have to walk back haha. Last week I went on a run and my calves hurt so bad I had to stop running and walk. I felt kinda lame but I just extended my time, tried to keep a moderately, fast walking pace, and turned it into a walk. I still felt good after because I did something. Even when you think you can't, you can. Your body is capable of more than you think so take care of it, but don't let IT control you.

Eating I have been loving making HUGE salads (like using a mixing bowl as my bowl huge) and adding cucumbers, carrots, roasted almonds, and some type of protein. I don't know if its bad that I eat that much but I don't feel guilty at all and as long as at lunch time I eat some carbs and healthy fat (peanut butter and avocado have been my favorites lately!), I get plenty of energy! I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (who doesn't?) but lately I have been wanting to cut out the sugar and preservatives that you get from jars of jelly and jam so you wanna know my secret?? Fresh blueberries and strawberries!! I use peanut butter (naturally more with flaxseed is the one I use) and super healthy nut bread (usually just one slice because it is heavy) and put blueberries or sliced strawberries instead of jelly. Oh my gosh AMAZING. I don't know why I wanted to blog about what I've been eating but there ya go. And I've been drinking TONS of water. Ill blog about water next but for now I'm going home. SPRING BREAK!!!
